Which Teslas can play an engine sound?
All of them, from the 2012 Model S to the Cybertruck, with one exception: early Model S and X still on their original screen (MCU1). Rupteur is tuned first for the Model 3 and Model Y.
Model by model
- Model 3, 2017 to today: the car Rupteur is tuned for, its screen, scroll button, GPS and audio output.
- Model Y, Model Y L included: the Model 3's twin, same tuning.
- Model S and Model X: compatible with the MCU2 screen or newer. Those still on the MCU1 screen (up to early 2018) have a browser that is too old; the screen upgrade offered by Tesla solves it.
- Cybertruck: compatible.
Your version, at first start
Rupteur asks for your car's version at first start and calibrates its behavior and bass to it. On a car without a subwoofer, it spares the door speakers.
What the car needs
- The Tesla's browser, nothing else: no dongle, no plug.
- A connection for the first load; after that, Rupteur works offline.
- The sound comes out of the car's own audio system, as a media source, with the balance adjustable from the screen.
One license, one car
The license is tied to your car. Changing cars? Write to contact@rupteur.app and we'll transfer it.
Frequently asked questions
What about another electric car?
Rupteur runs in any recent browser with GPS, but it is made for the Tesla: that is the car it knows, its screen, its scroll button and its audio output.
How do I know if my Model S or X is on MCU1?
The car's software information shows the infotainment processor: NVIDIA Tegra means MCU1; with Intel Atom or AMD Ryzen, Rupteur works. Rupteur also tells you itself when it opens.
